Sarantos Soft Press continues successful formula
In an increasingly competitive environment, Sarantos Wines continues to win over consumers with their flavoursome, textural and fruit focussed wines made from the free run juice of grapes grown in some of South Australia’s preeminent winegrowing regions.
The new wines comprise the 2010 Sarantos Soft Press Merlot ($14.99) and the 2011 Sarantos Soft Press Sauvignon Blanc ($14.99).
The latest vintage Sarantos Soft Press Sauvignon Blanc was made from fruit grown in Adelaide Hills and Mount Benson, on the Limestone Coast, while the new vintage Merlot stems from grapes grown in Mount Benson, Coonawarra and Barossa Valley.

“We are aiming to produce food friendly, attractive wines that suit a broad range of occasions,” commented Sarantos Winemaker Brett Duffin. “The Merlot is all about soft, red berries on the palate with subtle American oak and approachable tannins. It’s a food orientated wine to complement Mediterranean foods such as antipasto or wood fire pizza. It’s a wine that will take you away from the worries of life; to a place you’d rather be.”
“As with the Merlot, our Sarantos Sauvignon Blanc is a versatile wine to enjoy with friends over a meal. The style that we aim to produce is a balance between the varietal herbaceous styles and the riper, more generous passionfruit and tropical fruit spectrum.”
“The natural acidity of the Adelaide Hills fruit ensures that the wine maintains an appealing zest and crisp finish, and the lower alcohol makes it appealing for a second glass with lunch. ”
The Sarantos Soft Press range has a wine for most occasions, with the 2011 Sauvignon Blanc and 2010 Merlot joining the popular Sarantos Moscato, Pinot Gris and Chardonnay.

SARANTOS wines are named after Sarantos Moularadellis. Sarantos immigrated to Australia in the 1950’s, bringing with him centuries of Mediterranean winemaking tradition. He found sun-drenched Australia similar in many ways to the Mediterranean lifestyle and discovered Australians shared his great passion for enjoying food and wine alfresco. Sarantos created his wines to be fresh and textural so they perfectly partner a range of dishes at many different occasions. The winemakers only use the free run juice from the soft pressed grapes, ensuring full flavoured, approachable wines without any harsh undesirable phenolics from extended skin and seed contact.
