Orange Slow Summer Program: Junior Chef Masterclass
Momentum continues to build for the upcoming 2012 Orange Slow Summer Festival. With the release of the 2012 Slow Summer program, there has been growing interest in the broad range of events.
One of the key events for 2012 is the Junior Masterclassses. Hosted by renowned Orange chef Lindl Taylor, budding young cooks will have the opportunity to learn and be inspired by Masterchef winner Kate Bracks and Masterchef celebrity Merle Parish.
“We will be holding three sessions, hosting up to 18 children and teenagers,” explained Lindl. “It’s a great reflection of the support that we have in Orange that both Merle and Kate have offered their time to work with these groups.”

“We will be showing the participants a range of flavours that they may not have been introduced to. This will include various herbs, fruits and vegetables and the combination of them. We are very lucky in Orange to have such a broad range of producers and growers.”
“We will be looking at what’s in season in and around Orange, and this may vary due to the rain that we are having now. The children will gain an understanding of the concept of seasonality and where their food comes from. Supermarkets play such a big role in our meals these days that’s its easy to lose the concept of seasonality, as their shelves carry most fruit and vegetables all year round.”
The young cooks will cook and taste this local produce in a relaxed, fun and interactive environment. The participants will then be able to show off their newly developed skills by sharing their dishes with their parents in Robertson Park.
