Millamolong Polo Club to help foreign aid initiative
The inaugural Millamolong Polo Club Spring Party, to be held on Saturday 19th November, is hoping to raise substantial funds for the club and its selected charities.
Earlier this year the club donated over $3000 to Starlight Children’s Foundation and Riding for the Disabled Australia (Orange Branch), from funds generated from the Autumn Polo Carnival.
“The Millamolong Polo Club Spring Party, to be held in Orange next Saturday, is aiming to raise much needed funds for our local branch of Riding for the Disabled and for the East Africa Food Crisis,” commented Millamolong Polo Club Charity Ambassdor, Kate Hook.
“Most people are aware of the urgency of the food crisis in East Africa. The basic facts are these; 13.3 million people are in need of urgent humanitarian aid. Half of these are children at risk of dying from malnutrition and disease.”
“A three year drought, conflict and famine continue to threaten the lives of millions of people in Kenya, Ethiopia, Somalia and Djbouti.”
“In Southern Somalia, one third of children under five years of age are malnourished.”
The Millamolong Polo Club hopes to maximise their fundraising for the food crisis in Africa, with the Australian Government pledging to match every dollar raised before the end of November to assist in this crisis.
In addition to funds raised through ticket sales, 100% of the money generated from the sale of special edition Millamolong Cabernet Sauvignon jeroboams (3 litre bottles) will be going directly to the food crisis in Africa.
“Our goal is to raise $5000 from the sale of 20 jeroboams which we will add to our donation from ticket sales”
With the purchase of a jeroboam, guests will have a chance to win one of three fabulous prizes. These comprise dinner for two at Bennelong restaurant, your own private tent at the polo in Windsor at Easter and a fabulous lunch and helicopter ride in Orange.
