Charity looks to help its own.
When an active sportsman suffers a horrendous injury in the sport he loves, the thoughts of future needs are far from his mind.
Such was the injury of Rocky Mileto. Fifteen years ago Rocky was injured while playing Rugby Union and is now confined to a wheelchair.
Over the years, Rocky has adjusted to his new life and given a great deal back to the sport he loves. However, with a growing family, mobility becomes an increasing necessity.
Rocky leads an active life, with his family never far from his thoughts.
Rocky now needs a specially built vehicle in order to help him do the things that many take for granted. Dropping his children to school and picking them up – simple things.
Whilst spending a great deal of his energy with his much-loved ‘Hearts in Union’ charity, Rocky is not eligible for the financial benefits that this charity has achieved.
‘Hearts in Union’ is a charity that aims to look after rugby union players that have suffered similar injuries; ‘helping rugby helps its own’.
In order to help Rocky obtain his costly new vehicle his friends and colleagues are holding the Rocky Mileto Fundraising Lunch.
This lunch will take place at Ross Hill wines in Orange, NSW, with guest speaker General Peter Cosgrove AC, MC (Retired) supporting the local Orange chefs.
