Orange develops ‘Event Support Group’

The Orange region event committees have reinforced their partnership with the development of a new and unique ‘Event Support Group’.

This new initiative will develop a single working platform from which to source, manage and lever sponsorship revenue in order to underwrite and enhance existing region events as well as develop future marketing initiatives.

The new Event Support Group (ESG) is a combination of the separate event committees who have combined their formidable marketing and operational experience with the aim of creating synergies with their joint efforts.

The ESG comprises member of the F.O.O.D, Wine Week, Slow Summer, Frost Fest, Farmers Markets and Stay Orange committees, all of which are dominated by volunteers.

“This is a extremely positive move,” explained ESG Chairman, David Crawley. “Each of the committees has thrown their full support behind this proposal.  There is a real sense of collaboration, with everyone involved committed to the greater good and benefit of the community of Orange and the surrounding region.

The newly formed, voluntary group is comprised of a management group plus administrator and Councils.  The management group will hold one representative from each of the seasonal event committees along with three independent members.  The role of the ESG management group will be to:

·      Oversee the management and use of sponsorship revenue;

·      Provide guidance on the allocation of funds to event committees; and

·      Provide guidance on the acceptance and/or allocation of funds, based on specific selection guidelines, to events other than the four seasonal events that may apply for sponsorship assistance.

The administrator of the EPG will be Taste Orange due to its current involvement in the marketing of regional tourism in Orange, its management structure and its proven ability to garner results.

The role of Taste Orange, as administrator of the group, will be to procure and manage sponsorship revenue, marketing and administration.

The Administrator, Taste Orange, would source all ESG sponsorship revenue and then provide funds from these sponsorships for the net operational costs of each of the seasonal events, based on a net operational cost forecast.

Once event net operational costs have been distributed, Taste Orange will recommend the utilisation of any remaining funds for the ongoing marketing and promotion of the region overall and in its key product offerings; food, wine, arts and community

The final decision and responsibility of the management of surplus funds rests with the Committee, as with any shortfall of the approved budget.

“This is an exciting development in the ongoing marketing of the Orange region,” stated David.  “Over the past six years the region, with the help of Taste Orange, has created a range of fantastic events that continue to draw tourists to the region.  The development of the ESG is the next step to ensuring that we continue to build on and develop partnerships with business.”

“Through combining all the region’s strengths, we will offer better value to potential sponsorship partners, across a number of platforms, including wine, food, accommodation, lifestyle and support of the community.”

“This is the next logical step in the development of the Orange region,” concluded Crawley. “There is a unified commitment and willingness to establish this single working platform for sponsorship revenue which will provide a number of efficiencies and benefits, ensuring the long sustainability of each of the seasonal events, and generating a productive environment to investigate new ones.”

The ESP invites members of the Committees and Groups to Council on Wednesday 2 November at 10.30am for further information.
