A taste of Orange at the Wine Week Night Markets
Orange Wine Week comes to a head this Friday night (28 October) with the annual Orange Wine Week Night Market on McNamara.
The Night Market, which is proudly supported by Spiegelau, will once again take place in Robertson Part and McNamara Street between Summer and Byng Streets.
The festivities will kick off at 5.30pm and run through until 8.30pm.
“There is always a fantastic atmosphere at the Night Markets,” commented Taste Orange Executive Office, Rhonda Sear. “The weather lends itself to bringing all the family and settling in for some local food, wine and live entertainment.”
The 2011 Night Markets continues to attract a broad range of winemakers and local food producers, with this Friday seeing the likes of Philip Shaw wine, Angullong, Printhie, Highland Heritage, Patina and Cargo Road Wines join forces with Gina Allen Catering, Anna’s Cuisina, Red Chilli Deli and Bodhi Gardens.

“There will be great diversity, with a range of different foods such as woodfire pizzas, lamb souvlaki, goat tagine as well as sweeter dishes including lemon citrus tarts and orange and yogurt cakes. It’s a perfect opportunity to match up some of these dishes and with the region’s best wines.”
“Previous night markets have attracted up to 5000 people making it one of the best supported events on the Orange calendar.”
“There will be plenty of space to sit and relax, with a range of live entertainment including Michael Caulfield and the Ray Vanderby Quartet.
Orange Wine Week continues to be a great success, highlighting the region across Australia.
The local winemakers have been recognised for the quality of their wines and Wine Week is the perfect opportunity to taste these wines, particularly the ‘Best Wine of the Show’ at the Orange Wine Show, the 2009 Ross Hill ‘Family Series’ Cabernet Sauvignon.
Recent success includes the listing of a number of Orange region wines in the 2011 Citibank Top 40 NSW Wines as well as gold medals in the 2011 National Cool Climate Wine Show. Award winning wines include those from Mayfield Vineyard, Angullong, Logan, Philip Shaw, Printhie and Hedberg Hill.
“The success of our wines will continue to help promote the region as a whole,” said Rhonda. “These wines and the marketing of them create a wonderful image of the region. The Night Market is the perfect setting to taste why these wine growers are attracting such attention.”
