Saint & Sinner captures the attention of the world’s leading designers
Australian wines are mixing with the best of the best, with the Saint & Sinner Calling Card collection recently winning a prestigious 2011 Pentaward.
Winners were announced at an award ceremony, which took place in Times Square, New York on September 29, in a range of categories including beverages, food, body care and luxury.
Pentawards is the largest annual worldwide competition exclusively devoted to packaging design in all its forms. It is open to anyone associated with the creation and marketing of packaging and attracted entries from the best designers across the world.

Winners are rigorously chosen by an international jury of 12 packaging design professionals from leading branding, marketing and design agencies around the world.
Winning designs will be exhibited in Paris in the exclusive and renowned DesignPack Gallery and published by TASCHEN in a book that will be available in 2012.
Unlike Australian wine shows, there are not multiple gold or silver awards, but rather one of each in each category. From there the winners compete for the best of show or Diamond Award, this year taken out by Nine Mineral Water from Sweden.
Saint & Sinner’s Calling Card won Silver in the Beverage – Wine Category.
“Cost and volume generally make what you can do in the wine category fairly restrictive,” remarked Renee de Saxe, Director of Saint & Sinner.
“We worked closely with Boldinc Creative to take a fairly simple concept to a whole new, award winning level - personification of the descriptors of a wine - literally displaying the wine’s most alluring attributes on the label in female form.”
“The Calling Card was chosen to beautifully communicate this idea. Saint & Sinner Calling Card provides a complete experience; tantalizing, educating and ultimately rewarding its consumers on a number of levels.”
However, Calling Card is more than just a label on a bottle, it provides a unique and unmatched consumer experience, the beginning of a relationship which can extend across social media like SMS, Facebook and Twitter, while opening up a world of opportunities for the retailer, distributer and Saint & Sinner to reward consumer loyalty.
Calling Card has not been without controversy, being labelled everything from “adventurous”, “flamboyant” and “the epitome of sexy” to “sexist”, especially in Australia’s naturally conservative market.
However, since launching 12 months ago, Saint & Sinner’s Calling Card range has received ongoing international attention in leading wine, design and trend sites, including The Dieline, Lovely Package, Trendwatching, Springwise, Choi’s Gallery, WineLife (Netherlands).
“We have been astounded with the amount of interest in our wine and how well the label resonates with people all over the world, we have had distributors and consumers from over 16 countries seek us out, from the Sweden to Brazil, Canada to Kazakhstan.”
“We are very keen to continue to build distribution in Australia through working with a like-minded, dynamic distributor.”
