Mud House Sauvignon awarded Best in Class at the IWSC

The recently released 2011 Mud House Sauvignon Blanc has been presented with a prestigious ‘Gold –Best in Class’ award at one of the world’s most rigorous wine shows, the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC) held in London.

The IWSC, which was founded over 40 years ago, aims to promote the quality and excellence of the world’s best wines, spirit and liqueurs.

The judging panels read like a veritable who’s who of the world wine experts, with the gold medal winners rated as ‘outstanding examples of the variety’, ‘setting the standard’.  The highest marked wine in the gold range of wines is then awarded the ‘Best in Class’.

This international award comes on the back of the recent announcement that Mud House winemaker Nadine Worley was named as a finalist in the Wine Society Young Winemaker of the Year Awards.  “This is a fantastic reinforcement that we are doing the right thing in the winery and the vineyards,” said Nadine.  “We spend a great deal of time working in the vineyards, and then combining and blending various components from a number of them.”

“This is a real team effort, and one that we have been working toward for a number of years.  We are building on our knowledge of each of the vineyards from the various sub regions of Marlborough, and with the ageing of the vines, we are seeing a notable lift in quality.”

The IWSC judges’ comments on the 2011 Mud House Sauvignon Blanc concluded with; “A terrific example of a beautifully made wine. Delicious.”

The IWSC Awards Presentation and Banquet is to be held in London on Wednesday, 16 November 2011 where over 500 guests will enjoy a five-course dinner accompanied by the award-winning wines.  A number of trophies will also be awarded during the banquet.
